Zonta Club of Malden Participates in the Period Project
The Zonta Club of Malden collected donations for “The Period Project”. It's extremely hard for women living in poverty to deal with the monthly financial and physical burden of a period. Products are costly and are not covered by SNAP or WIC. All donations collected were given to RESPOND.

RESPOND, a pioneer in the movement to end domestic violence, is New England's first domestic violence prevention agency and the second in the nation. Based in Somerville, MA, for over 40 years RESPOND has provided life-saving shelter, a crisis hotline, support services, training and education to more than 100,000 members of the community. Services are free, confidential, and available to all survivors of domestic abuse—women, men, teens and children.  Below is a lst of items we collected.
• Sealed Boxes of Pads or Tampons
• Panty Liners
• Cleansing Wipes
• Hand Sanitizers and/or Soap
• New Pairs of Underwear (Any Size)
• or cash donation to purchase items in short supply
Thanks to Tailored for Success, 587 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA for being a drop-off location.

A vigil to highlight the problem of domestic violence was held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 in the newly built Malden Police station’s community room, a place created to make the police more “accessible and transparent,” in the words of Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis. The vigil was held by the domestic violence agency RESPOND in collaboration with the Malden government, Malden police and the Malden Zonta club.
