Young Women in Leadership

District 1 Zonta Young Women in Leadership Chair:
Lorraine Bartlett, Zonta Club of Concord NH USA

The purpose of this award is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing their early commitments to volunteerism, leadership, and dedication to the advancement of the status of women. Each club is encouraged to solicit applications, offer a Club award if possible (not required), and name a Club Young Woman in Leadership winner. Clubs then forward their winners on to the Governor/District YW Chair – and a District YW winner is selected and forwarded to international to compete for a $5,000 cash award from the Zonta Foundation for Women.

Women, aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district or who are citizens of a Zonta country, who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply.

  • Active commitment to volunteerism.
  • Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid).
  • Volunteer leadership achievements.
  • Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs.
  • Support in Zonta International’s mission of building a better world for women and girls.

 

2023 YWPA Winner

District 1 winner for the YWPA 2023 award at the ZI level was Morgan Casey from Concord, NH. Her application was submitted by the Zonta Club of Concord NH.
