District 1 Bylaws

The two highlighted areas of these Bylaws were recommended by Zonta International and approved by a majority vote of the District 1 Board on August 24, 2025. Final approval is required by a vote of District 1 Club Delegates.
One is clarification that clubs have approval authority regarding ‘Area boundaries’; the second is the elimination of ‘mail ballots’ if club action is required between conferences.

District 1 Rules of Procedure

The highlighted areas of these Rules of Procedure were approved by a majority vote of the District 1 Board on August 24, 2025.

The changes are primarily ones that were made by Zonta International (education award names) and date changes to reflect future events.  Final approval is required by a vote of District 1 Club Delegates.

District 1 Budget 2026-2028

The budget proposed for the upcoming biennium was approved by a majority vote of the District 1 Board.

At the end of each biennium, the District’s financial records are reviewed by a qualified person who is not currently a member of the District Board. For the period June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2024, the review was performed by Pamela Albertson.

Lynn Currier, LICSW, candidate for District Governor 2026-2028
Lynn Currier has been a proud member of the Zonta Club of Concord NH, since 2017. She is a past Club President and the current Lt. Governor for this biennium.
In her work life, she is the Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers, NH Chapter, and VT Chapter. She has clinical experience and a strong macro social work background in social policy, training and facilitation, non-profit leadership, and volunteer board coordination. She spent fourteen years with Casey Family Services: first as a clinical case manager, then providing technical assistance to foster/ adoptive parent associations, and the last six years as the Team Leader for Casey’s school-based Franklin Family Resource Center. Lynn was the Lead for the NH Afterschool Network, working to increase out-of-school learning opportunities for youth and closing the opportunity gap for lower-income youth. She is an adjunct faculty/teaching lecturer in the Social Work Department at the University of New Hampshire. Lynn earned her BA from New College of Florida and her MSW from the University of New Hampshire.

Attorney Maria Luise, candidate for District Lt. Governor 2026-2028   
Maria Luise is the current President of the Zonta Club of Malden, serving in this role since 2024. She has been a proud member of the club since 1995 and has held all the offices and director positions with the club, except for treasurer. A lifelong resident of Malden, Maria earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Wheelock College in Early Childhood Education following which she co-established and ran a private preschool. She later earned her Juris Doctor at New England School of Law and became a member of the Massachusetts Bar. She practiced civil and criminal litigation for many years at the Boston law firm Balliro & Mondano also serving on the Federal Bars of the U.S. District Court for the District of MA and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Since 2013, Maria has served as the Chief of Staff for Malden Mayor Gary Christenson. She has spent her lifetime advocating for those in need and is an active member of her the community. She is currently a member and former President of the Jr. Aid Association of Malden and has served on many boards and foundations including the City of Malden Board of Appeals, Malden Access TV, Malden Visiting Nurse Association, the Cheverus School Consultative Board and is a Past President of the MA Association of Women Lawyers.


Janice N. Severance, candidate for reelection to District Treasurer 2026-2028
Janice N. Severance is the current District 1 Treasurer, serving since 2022; she has agreed to serve with the hope of mentoring a new Treasurer during that period. She has been a member of the Zonta Club of Concord NH, since June 1997 and has held all of the officer and director positions within the club, except for secretary. Janice has an associate degree in Executive Secretarial Science and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and has worked in non-profit and for-profit roles as well as for the State of New Hampshire. She is a self-employed Personal Image & Color Consultant who has operated The Image Enhancement Studio in Concord, NH for over 34 years. Janice also volunteers for other local women’s organizations, helps run various fundraisers in the community, was involved with Leadership Greater Concord, and sings in a local community chorus. She served as the chorale Treasurer for 15 years and currently serve as its Membership Chair while continuing her passion to sing.

 


Lisa Emery, candidate for District 1 Area 1 Director 2026-2028
Lisa is the President of the Amherst Area Zonta Club and has been for the past 4 years. Lisa was brought up in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada and belongs to several community organizations in the area. Lisa is a former Town Councilor for the town and still stays current on what is happening in the community. She takes part in community activities that help make the town the best place to work, live and play.Lisa assisted the Halifax Club during the Zonta District 1 Conference in October 2023 and hosted a rose and candle ceremony for those from the District 1 clubs that had passed away during the time between conferences. 
Lisa works as the Managing Director of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation, raising funds for much needed equipment for the Regional Hospital.

 

Nadine Salley, candidate for District 1 Area 2 Director 2026-2028
Nadine Salley grew up in Ellington, CT. She obtained her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Consumer Economics and Public Policy, with a Minor in Housing, from Cornell University. Her career was in senior management of real estate and consumer lending for 18 years at community banks in NJ and NH, and a final 20 years at a statewide nonprofit community development financial institution in NH. During her 31 years in NH, she joined Zonta International in 1990, and served on many other local nonprofit boards and civic committees. Starting in 1990 she served in most Club officer and board positions in two Zonta Clubs in NH and one in ME, before retiring to RI in 2020. She also served at the District 1 level in 2000 through 2010; first as Area 4 Director from 2000 – 2002, District Treasurer from 2002 – 2004, Lt. Governor from 2006 – 2008, and Governor from 2008 – 2010. After arriving in RI, she chartered the Zonta Club of South County Rhode Island, the first ever Zonta Club in RI, in September 2023 where she currently serves as President.

Donna Raycraft, candidate for Nominating Committee 2026-2028

Donna is the current District 1 Governor. She is starting her 22nd year as a member of the Zonta Club of Concord where she has served twice as that club’s president as well as chair of several committees. She has previously served the District as Chair  of the Service Committee and as Lt. Governor. Donna holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and is a certified family life educator. She worked for 24 years at a community mental health center, directing a parent-child center as well as a peer-counseling program at area high schools. Later she became the executive director of a domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center. Now retired, she volunteers with Hospice and sits on several local non-profit boards. She is the proud wife of a retired high school educator, the parent of three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pam Roberts, candidate for Nominating Committee 2026-2028
Pam is a charter member of the Zonta Club of Berkshire County which began in 1994. Throughout her continuous 30+ year membership she has held many positions in the club including club President and serving on many committees along the way. Currently she holds the elected position of Assistant Treasurer, serves on the Membership Committee and is the chair of the Scholarship Committee.
In her work/professional life she has been a Realtor since 1986. She is the Owner/President of Roberts & Associates Realty, Inc which she started with a partner in 1988. Currently she co-owns the brokerage with her daughter-in-law. In her capacity as a Realtor, she has volunteered and served in leadership roles at both the local and state level. She holds an MBA from UMass/Isenberg School, serves on the foundation board for Berkshire Community College, is a trustee of Lee Bank and the proud Mom of two grown sons, five grandchildren and currently two miniature dachshunds.

 

Janice Tatarka, candidate for Nominating Committee 2026-2028
Janice Tatarka has been a member of the Zonta Club of Chelsea and North Shore for more than 10 years. She is currently honored to be the club’s President. Janice, a lawyer by training, retired after serving in various capacities for 25 years in Massachusetts state government and f for 11 years in a public relations firm.  In addition to Zonta, Janice serves as President of the board of HarborCOV, an organization that provides support for survivors of domestic violence.
